Busy Weekend and No Baby

We had a busy weekend filled with a wedding, a brunch with my old bible study girls, dinner with friends, Mike's first hockey game of the season, and dinner with the Tousley crew. It was a lot of fun, but we were both pretty exhausted by Sunday night.

Mike did great in his roller hockey game. He hadn't played for over a year, but still managed to score four points and get two assists. I was so proud and a bit worked-up. I always end up crying during his games if someone is mean to him. It only happened once this time.

No baby news. I went to the Dr. yesterday and I'm at 1.5 cm. I had some weird back pains and contractions on Sunday, but it ended up being nothing. We'll keep you updated.

Baby Room and Bare Belly

Sophia's room is now all put together and ready for her! The picture isn't great since the room is small and angles are limited, but you'll get the idea.

I'm a little over 38 weeks, now. No signs of baby. My next appointment is Monday, so hopefully we'll know a little more then.

Update

I went to the doctor yesterday and I am dilated 1 cm. I know that's not much, but at least it's something. The days are starting to feel really long and I'm getting very excited to see Sophia. Tomorrow will be 38 weeks. Come soon, baby!

Surprise Date and 37 Weeks

Today was an awesome day. Mike left for work and I had plans to go walking with my neighbor friend. It was around 8:00 and I was going to go walking at 8:30. The doorbell rang and Mike was there with flowers and donuts. He told me that today I was not going to go walking, but that he took the day off of work and we were going to go have a picnic at the beach.

We ate our donuts and coffee and packed up a lunch and beach stuff. It was so cute because I had recently been talking about wanting donuts as well as wanting to go to the beach for a picnic.

At the beach we walked around for a while, watched the seals, ate lunch, took a little snooze and then played cards. It was absolutely perfect weather and not too crowded since it was Friday instead of Saturday.

I'm so thankful that I have such a sweet husband!

37 weeks...only 19 days until my due date!

Baby Shower

Two weekends ago was my baby shower. I don't have pictures right now because I have to get them from Mike's sister, but they will be posted when I do. It was such a fun time. People were so generous and Sophia is already getting spoiled. Thank you so much to those of you who have given us new things and hand-me-downs....all are appreciated!

My mom got to come into town for the shower which was great. We did some shopping and she helped me put up pictures in Sophia's room. Sometimes you just need the eye of another woman:). Thanks, Mom!

A Story and 34 Weeks

Belly

34 weeks

On Friday I went to my 34 week Dr. appointment. I went in expecting nothing because I have had no complications so far. Everything looked fine until the Dr. measured me and said that I was measuring 2 weeks behind where I should be and had not been gaining a whole lot of weight. He said he wanted me to get an sonogram ASAP in order to make sure the baby was growing properly. I asked him what would happen if she wasn't. He told me, "Then we would have to take her out soon." This threw me for a loop.

I left the Dr. office and got a little teary because I just didn't know if Sophia was doing ok. I called Mike and told him and he prayed with me on the phone. His prayer reminded me that God is sovereign, cares more about this baby than I do and that she does not belong to me in the first place.

I was able to get in for a sonogram appointment that afternoon which is amazing since the radiology department is always backed up. Our sonographer was very sweet. She did all the measurements and checked Sophia out. The findings were alarming. She is actually measuring BIG for 34 weeks (she looks more like a 35 week old baby), has chubby cheeks, and her estimated weight at this time is 5lbs. 13oz. This was such a relief. I guess she is just tucked in places that can't be measured on the outside!

It was so cool to see how God gave us beyond what we had hoped for when looking at the results. She is doing really well and it was so fun to get a little glimpse of her.

One funny part of the whole experienced happened when the sonographer tilted me back on the bed so my legs were higher than my head. I started to feel pretty sick, but told myself, "Don't be a baby. This is a lot easier than labor." (Side note: I have been coping with any pain or discomfort I have experienced during pregnancy by saying, "This isn't labor and you need to suck it up.") Well...she finished with that part and told me I could get up and use the restroom before we continued since my bladder was really full from drinking the liquid required before a sonogram. I got up and immediately started feeling light headed. I stood there for a moment holding the door open. She thought I was holding the door for her, but then she saw my face and noticed I was about to pass out. Mike immediately put a chair behind me. I fell into it and threw-up all over myself. It was so gross, but makes for a good story to tell at Sophia's 16th birthday:)!
