Belly

34 weeks
On Friday I went to my 34 week Dr. appointment. I went in expecting nothing because I have had no complications so far. Everything looked fine until the Dr. measured me and said that I was measuring 2 weeks behind where I should be and had not been gaining a whole lot of weight. He said he wanted me to get an sonogram ASAP in order to make sure the baby was growing properly. I asked him what would happen if she wasn't. He told me, "Then we would have to take her out soon." This threw me for a loop.
I left the Dr. office and got a little teary because I just didn't know if Sophia was doing ok. I called Mike and told him and he prayed with me on the phone. His prayer reminded me that God is sovereign, cares more about this baby than I do and that she does not belong to me in the first place.
I was able to get in for a sonogram appointment that afternoon which is amazing since the radiology department is always backed up. Our sonographer was very sweet. She did all the measurements and checked Sophia out. The findings were alarming. She is actually measuring BIG for 34 weeks (she looks more like a 35 week old baby), has chubby cheeks, and her estimated weight at this time is 5lbs. 13oz. This was such a relief. I guess she is just tucked in places that can't be measured on the outside!
It was so cool to see how God gave us beyond what we had hoped for when looking at the results. She is doing really well and it was so fun to get a little glimpse of her.
One funny part of the whole experienced happened when the sonographer tilted me back on the bed so my legs were higher than my head. I started to feel pretty sick, but told myself, "Don't be a baby. This is a lot easier than labor." (Side note: I have been coping with any pain or discomfort I have experienced during pregnancy by saying, "This isn't labor and you need to suck it up.") Well...she finished with that part and told me I could get up and use the restroom before we continued since my bladder was really full from drinking the liquid required before a sonogram. I got up and immediately started feeling light headed. I stood there for a moment holding the door open. She thought I was holding the door for her, but then she saw my face and noticed I was about to pass out. Mike immediately put a chair behind me. I fell into it and threw-up all over myself. It was so gross, but makes for a good story to tell at Sophia's 16th birthday:)!

Ah, Kate...so glad Sophia is ok (even better than ok!). I am constantly amazed by your heart and faith. Love you bunches. So cute to see your big 'ol belly. xxx
Just tell that story every birthday and we'll be fine.
Glad everything checked out okay with Sophia. Can't wait to see her sweet face. Not much longer now! You all ready?
Glad you and Soph are okay!!! You look so beautiful pregnant Katie. But I'm sure it doesn't change the fact that you are ready to have her out and your body to yourself again =)
I'm so happy to hear that Sophia is at a healthy weight, especially after your dr. visit scare! I'm sure it just reinforced your trust in the Lord!
