Loving the Swing

Sophia loves to swing and gets very agitated when I don't start pushing her right after I get her into the swing. You'll see the video below of just how much she enjoys it.

6 Month Stats

We went to the Dr. yesterday and Sophia looks good. She is 16 lbs. 6.9 oz (48th percentile) and 27.5 inches long (91st percentile). She was a trooper since our appointment was right at her nap time and she had to get 5 shots. The poor girl was toast by the end of the day.

1st (Out of Utero) Trip to Tucson

We took a trip to Tucson to see Grandma Barbie and Grandpa Tom. Sophia did pretty well in the car as long as she was fed and able to sleep. She loved seeing her grandparents as well as the many people they invited over to check their granddaughter out. We loved showing her off and she pulled out all of her tricks for everyone. We're excited to go back for Christmas!

Breakfast Chat

video

6 (and a half) Months

Sophia is 6.5 months already. The days can be slow sometimes, but the time overall seems to fly by. She is sitting-up really well and started solid foods a few weeks ago. Nothing I've given her has been refused. This is just like her mama (for better or worse).

She also started sleeping through the night. At about 6:45 pm she starts to get grumpy and is usually asleep by 7:00. Her wake-up is early (around 6:00), but I'd prefer that over a late night baby. She sometimes thinks it's OK to wake-up at 5:00 and make a lot of noise, but I ignore her until 6:00 because 5:00 is just too early. I'm a little nervous about the time change.

Stranger anxiety has set in a bit and she seems to have no tolerance for older men or women. Every time one of them talks to her, she starts screaming and crying. It's really sad. Hopefully her fear of the elderly will end soon. It's really unfortunate because they are usually the ones who want to stop and chat with her.

Sophia is a really great baby and I'm so thankful for that. I've started to talk to her about what we are thankful to Jesus for in the mornings when I feed her breakfast. She doesn't get it, but at this point it's more for me than for her. We are also working on being gentle and not pulling hair.

Sweet Potato Pancakes

Last night I was pureeing sweet potatoes for Sophia and thought they looked really good and wanted to make something with them. So, our Sunday night dinner ended up being sweet potato pancakes and bacon. They were delicious and a great fall recipe. I cut down the cinnamon by half and put more nutmeg...personal preference. This morning I had them with melted chocolate chips on top. Delicious! Here's the recipe:

Sweet Potato Pancakes

2 cups Bisquick Mix
1 egg
1/2 cup sweet potato puree
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg

Mix the Bisquick, egg, sweet potato puree, milk cinnamon and nutmeg. Whip until smooth. Pour on a hot griddle and enjoy!
