Strong Heartbeat

Yesterday we heard our baby's heartbeat for the first time. It was so awesome to hear the strength of it and know that everything is ok. I'm measuring right where I should be for how far along I am (almost 16 weeks), so the baby is growing at the right pace. We can't wait to see our little one!

Tousley Family Camping Trip

Last weekend I got to experience my first Tousley camping trip. We went to Yuma and spent a lot of time in the river. I didn't know people actually went to Yuma, but it ended up being surprisingly fun!

Most of the days were spent eating, playing games, taking rides in the boat, jet skiing, controlling the 4 dogs that came with us and sitting around the campfire. We had a great time and the weather was perfect. I can't wait to bring our own kids along some day.

80's Birthday Party

I have been slacking in the blogging department, but I'm now back on task.

At the beginning of October we went to a surprise birthday party for our friend David. He used to be in roller skating competitions as a child, so his mom made a special suit for him and he had to do a little routine for all of us at the rented out skating rink. It was a lot of fun. Nothing like a good excuse to wear a lot of ugly make-up and bright colored 80's clothes.

Coronado and Cribbage

Last night we went on a double date with Julie, David, and baby Soren. First, we went to Costa Azul on Coronado Island to get some $3 swordfish tacos. They were pretty delicious. I wouldn't recommend the entrees since I think they are overpriced for the portions, but if you can go during happy hour the tacos are great. After that we walked around and got some ice cream at MooTime. At the ice cream shop, we played Cribbage (our new favorite game) and the girls got annihilated by the boys. It was a fun night...minus the getting beat part.

Yummy!

Baby Update

Sorry there hasn't been an update for a while. My friend, Jen, told me that she was sick of looking at my uterus and asked me to update our blog. This is for you, Jen!

The baby is now about the size of a fig. Tomorrow I'll be 11 weeks along. I've started to feel a bit better over the past week. The nausea is not as consistent. Also, I picked up a bad cold along the way that has proved to be a blessing since it lessens my sense of smell. I never thought I'd be thankful for a cold.

Mike has been very supportive. I am so thankful for his willingness to bear with me through the sickness and for the way he always looks for ways to help. He's going to be a great dad.

Heartbeat

We had our first doctors appointment today and everything looked good. I'm almost 8 weeks along making the baby in between the size of a blueberry and a kidney bean. We got to see the heartbeat for the first time which was a bit of a relief to me. The baby even did a little jump during the evaluation. Below are the pictures from our appointment.

Our Little Lentil Bean

I am now six weeks along which graduates the baby from being the size of a sesame seed to... a lentil bean. I've decided that pregnancy is really weird. It is strange to me that when I feel like I'm going to throw-up, eating helps...so counterintuitive . Normally when one feels sick, eating would be the last thing one would do to help keep food down. Also, I find it odd that I have to eat before getting out of bed so that I don't feel so sick when I get up. Typically, eating in bed would be a sign of a serious eating problem, but suddenly it's acceptable.
