Olivia's Birth Story
So, for those who are interested, here is the low down on Olivia's birth: 11:00am- Went to the Dr. and was 2cm. dilated. He stripped my membranes and also set-up an induction date just in case she didn't come that week. 2-10pm- Having irregular contractions and feeling fine 10pm-12am- Begin feeling really sick and having contractions about 15-20 minutes apart 1am- Begin throwing-up at every contraction and they are now about 10 minutes apart 1:30am- Call labor and delivery and tell them my situation. They tell me to take Tylenol for the back pain (really lame, I thought) and to wait until the contractions are 5 min. apart. 2:45am- Throwing-up all the time and having contractions 5 min. apart 3:00am- Call labor and delivery. They hear me talking on the phone during a contraction and they tell me to come in right away. Contractions are now 3-5min. apart. 3:30am- Get to the hospital and they check me. I'm 7cm. dilated. They ask if I want an epidural and I say yes. 4:20am- We get into the labor room and I ask them to check me to see if I'm too far along for pain meds to matter. 4:25am- The nurse checks me and tells me I'm almost at 10cm and my cervix is falling apart in her hand...gross. 4:30am- Start pushing and experience the most uncomfortable pain of my life and begin yelling really loudly. As I looked around at everyone else I wondered why they were all so calm and talking in hushed voices. 4:42am-Baby Olivia is born and I feel so much better! The nurse midwife told me that next time I shouldn't wait so long to come in. I'm pretty sure that if I have another kid they are going to fly out. She came out pink all over and was calm from the start. I began to nurse her and her latch was immediately strong which was so great since breastfeeding can be a struggle. We are so thankful she is here!

First, thanks for sharing your story with us! I always love reading birth stories. Second, I just have to say that no mom has any right looking as amazing as you do so soon after giving birth! ;-P Seriously, you look GREAT! And Olivia is pretty cute too, of course. :) Congratulations! Can't wait to meet her!
I, too, LOVE reading birth stories. I am a bit of a birth nerd. Way to go on all natural! I think it is one of the most incredible experiences.... and most difficult. After two natural births, I pretty much think about it all the time. I guess the experience is somewhat scarring (both in good and bad ways!!!).
I hope the transition from one to two goes as smoothly as possible!!

OK. Leave it to you, Kate, to make me laugh so hard while reading a birth story. I didn't even know a cervix could fall apart, haha. I just love you and how chill you always are.
Olivia is truly a sweet baby and I can't wait to love on her again soon.
xoxo
